On Nielsen realization and manifold models for classifying spaces
We consider the problem of whether, for a given virtually torsionfree discrete group $Γ$, there exists a cocompact proper topological $Γ$-manifold, which is equivariantly homotopy equivalent to the classifying space for proper actions.
